Pano Gallery

This is the starter page of the gallery of my panos (panoramic images). Because most of these images are quite large (many of them are over 100 megapixel), the full-sized images can not be posted here; some of these occupy several hundreds of megabytes in compressed TIFF format. The posted images are only 20%, 25% or 33% of the originals in length and height; their sizes vary from a few hundred kilobytes to a few megabytes.

These pictures may be still too large for some viewers, especially for those with slower internet connection. To avoid unnecessarily downloading such images, only thumbnails will be shown on these pages. These are between 15KB and 50KB small. It appears to be a stretch to call them thumbnails, but they are really tiny compared to the originals, even compared to the posted medium-sized images. By clicking on a thumbnail or on the text show larger, the medium sized image will be shown in its own page. Such an image does not fit on the display; if it appears fitting on a page without scrolling, then your internet browser has reduced its size and quality. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, this button appears in the bottom right corner when the mouse hovers over the image. Clicking on this button expands the image to its correct size, and the scroll bars can be used to view the different parts.

The panos are grouped according to the place they are depicting and each group is presented on its own page. This makes the overview easier and saves unnecessary downloading of the thumbnails.

When clicking on the text relating to a group or on its thumbnail, the page of that group will be displayed; that page contains all thumbnails of the images of that group as well as specifications of the pano:

Note, that panos are useful not only as aesthetic objects. The large images in JPEG format are very suitable for hiding large amount of data in the image file (this is called steganography). See the explanation atCryptoBola about how to use large JPEG images to make yor secrets not only unintelligable but how to hide that unnoticably as well.
